Google+ Hangout with Jonathan Lea: Legal Blogging & Social Media for Lawyers

Jonathan Lea, London-based corporate lawyer and business adviser, recently kindly invited me to join him on a Google+ hangout (a live webinar) to chat about legal blogging (‘blawging’) and social media for lawyers and law firms. I’ve met Jonathan on various occasions now, having first connected back in 2009 on Twitter and latterly at legal tweetups in London.

Jonathan has published a detailed synopsis together with the video on his Jonathan Lea Network blog here. Essentially the video covers a range of topics, including:

  • my career change from lawyer and law tutor to legal blogger (building WardBlawg, YouBlawg and various other legal blogging platforms), SEO and social media marketing manager and online business generation for lawyers (my new capacity being Operations Director at Moore Legal Technology)
  • the main mistakes made by lawyers and law firms online, one of the main ones being not getting the basics right, especially a solid website that drives business
  • the continued importance of email newsletters
  • thoughts for law students, young solicitors and personal branding in the digital age
  • tips for legal writing online
  • thoughts on the importance of blogging and social media tools for lawyers
  • discussions about the need for high quality legal content online

Please do connect with me or send me a message with your thoughts on any of these subjects on LinkedIn, Twitter or Google+ or in the comments below.
